Alberta Workers’ Compensation Consulting (AWCC)

Please be advise that AWCC is not presently taking new clients. We will begin taking new clients in October 2026

AWCC is an independent advocacy service for injured workers.

We help clients pursue benefit entitlement issues and, when needed, file and argue appeals. We provide representation at both appeal levels in Alberta and British Columbia:

What We Do

Review your WCB claim file to understand the evidence and the issues in dispute.

Prepare clear, organized submissions to the WCB and/or the appeal bodies.

Communicate directly with the WCB on your behalf to resolve entitlement issues efficiently, and where possible, avoid unnecessary appeals.

Complete or assist with required forms and help ensure time-based deadlines are met.

Receive and review WCB and appeal correspondence on your behalf, then explain it in plain language and recommend next steps.

We are service‑focused and here to help you

Kevin Becker: Founding Consultant

AWCC's founding consultant Kevin Becker has 25 years of direct and related experience in medical–legal claims management, human resources, and labour relations.

Mr. Becker volunteered and worked in community placement for the disabled as well as disability case management upon graduating from the University of Alberta.

Mr. Becker worked as a case manager for the Alberta Workers' Compensation Board for six years as a CM II. He resigned in 1996 having been frustrated by his inability to further the interests of injured workers in said role and went on to work in human resources and labour relations.

Mr. Becker's experience in human resources was progressive, working both as an independent consultant, as well as a human resources generalist in healthcare leading to the position of Director of Human Resources for St. Joseph's Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

Subsequent to this, Mr. Becker had a lengthy tenure with the Association of Academic Staff (AASUA) at the University of Alberta representing over 3500 University of Alberta staff as the Senior Labour Relations Officer, and then as the Associate Director of Bargaining and Negotiations.

In his role at the University of Alberta Mr. Becker lead a diverse team of labour relations professionals and specialists to advance the interests of professors and professional administrative staff, prior to returning to compensation advocacy and representation for the second time in his career.

Mr. Becker has represented claimants before the WCB of Alberta, WorkSafe BC, and other provincial WCBs.

Is it time to put over 25 years of direct and related experience to work for you?
